EntreDot IdeaSlam Event Serves Entrepreneurs with New Business Ideas

Published on

Raleigh, NC, May 12, 2013 –(PR.com)– Many people have ideas to start new businesses. Some are inspired in the shower…others in different venues. Very few, however, take any action on those ideas and they have regret years later for the success story that eluded them. EntreDot (www.entredot.org) helps aspiring entrepreneurs work through their business ideas and commercialize them. This month’s IdeaSlam on May 15 will be at the EntreDot Innovation Center at Lafayette Village. Any and all aspiring entrepreneurs are welcome to come out and join experienced mentors for what will be a fun evening! (http://ideaslam-eiclv-may.eventbrite.com/)

The format for the evening is to have a successful guest entrepreneur talk about startup travails in launching a new business prior to participants being given 3 minutes to “pitch” their idea to a mentor panel. The panel (and, sometimes, the audience!) provides feedback and asks questions to help sharpen the focus on the merit of the idea. Participants are encouraged to take the input and use it to revise their ideas into viable business concepts that can be launched as small businesses that have the potential to employ others.

EntreDot is a North Carolina based 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that provides business mentoring and entrepreneurship programs to help business leaders make the right decisions as they create, start, and grow new companies.

With 26,000 new businesses created and 23,000 businesses shutting their doors in North Carolina each year, net new business creation is not very high. EntreDot exists to help small business entrepreneurs overcome the odds. Sole proprietorships and high growth companies appear to have more risk and challenges in creating sustainable businesses. Our organization is therefore focused on serving those who want to create businesses that will show steady growth and the capability to employ others.

The EntreDot Innovation Center at Lafayette Village (located on the back side of the complex and upstairs in suite 200 at 8480 Honeycutt Rd, Raleigh, 27615) aims to maximize the opportunity for entrepreneurial success, resulting in incremental economic growth in revenue and jobs.

The End of Generational Trauma: How Remote Work Is Helping Black Entrepreneurs Overcome Inherited Trauma

Generational trauma, also called intergenerational trauma, is a concept used to explain the transmission of challenges within families. It has become a hot topic in recent years due to the focus on redefining mental health and due to the need for accessible and adequate mental health services. However, as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic or the 'new normal,' it seems as if the cycle of passed down trauma has finally broken. According to a 2021 Future of Work Abroad survey, Americans who live and work abroad are happier. [...]
